About Us
Our congregation was established in 1858, when eight Norwegian families decided to worship together and call in a neighboring pastor. Well neighboring at that time was across the river, but a neighbor nonetheless. At that time, they convened in the courthouse, or in a home, or other local building wherever it suited the gathering. It was not until 1897 that a site was purchased at the corner of 5th and Dakota street, for the new church. Originally a residence stood on the lot where United Lutheran Church now resides.
